Unhappy PAL video codec for PT HD 8.1 on a PPC Mac
I can't get this video to play. I heard I need the correct codec. Any help or advice?

What codec does quicktime say it is using? The codec is more important than the fact it's PAL. Most codecs can be made to run at PAL speed; DV PAL is a common codec for PAL shows but generally that codec is included as part of QT.

Without info on the codec itself it is very difficult to provide any further help.

It doesn't run in QuickTime either...says it needs other software, and then I get a page with a bunch of 3rd party choices.

what is the codec of the video? hit apple-I in qt to display info.

Sounds like it may be the avid codec? The one that ironically PT cannot play.

PT plays avid QT codecs just fine. Which one do you mean?

Really? The avid QT codec was unplayable last time I tried - although that was back in the days of v10 and 7.4.2 and I was using an xp system.
Happy to be corrected and better informed though....

DNxHD36 plays fine on a MacPro. A G5 wil be too slow of course.
