burning cd Question
I have a 350Mhz AGP G4(Sawtooth). 256 RAM. I'm running dual monitors (Rage Orion card in a PCI Slot). The digi 001 in another slot. I have 3 internal IDE hard drives. i master and 1 slave on the internal IDE hard drive bus, and a 45Gig Maxtor on the worthless zip drive bus. Works Great! The only thing I can't do is burn a friggin' cd. I've tried 3 different SCSI cards in my G4, and everytime I plug one into the last open PCI slot and power up my G4 it just sits there and hangs. The only way to boot it up is to turn off all extensions nad unplug the SCSI card. My computer just won't work when a SCSI card is plugged into the last PCI Slot. I'm going to try an Adaptec 2906 card tonite. All I want to do is burn a cd off this SCSI card. No hard drives will be attached. Why is this so impossible to do. If this doesn't work, here's my question to you guys. Should I remove the DVD-ROM drive and hook up a drive that will not only burn cd's but also handle CD-ROMs for software loading in, and also play DVD stuff. Is there a drive available like the one I'm dreaming of? Please help. I can't burn a cd!
