Transport Controls

I have a P3 450 128 MB ram. PT Free installed with no problem, I can import audio tracks and even play them from the import window (with that preview control) but can't play them with the transport controls. The RTZ and go to end buttons work, as well as FF and RW, but no play. Also no record, although the record button lights when clicked. What up?

Does attempting to play a MIDI file work??

You are hitting the right play button??

Also, hitting record arms the recorder. To actually start recording, you then hit play.

Sounds a bit odd to me. If it still won't work, I'd re-install PTF.

The card I am using is an Audio Sciences 4111 - no midi. I got PT free to run at home (kinda, before error messages) on a K6 2 550. I know its not supposed to work on AMD, but it sort of does, but not on the P3. Uninstalled, reinstalled - still the transport controls don't work on the P3.

A multitrack program I've got that does work on both computers is n-Track. Damn thing is rock solid, VST and directx real time plugins and gobs of tracks on both. So the computers are capable of multitrack. Hmm....

I have the same problem. I have a AMD Athlon 1 GHZ, and the old Terratec EWS 64 XL soundcard.
I also tried a lot of things, even installing Windows 98 SE (before Win98 FE), but it didn't resolve the problem.
My last guess is now that PTFree isn't working with my soundcard.
I would be thankfull, if somebody could help.

yes, same exact issue with my PII 350mghz, 320MegsRAM, win98SE. Check out "Baffled..." from April 2. This guy had it working, then it went bad after he installed the Documentation and the demo, yet backing up doesn't fix it.
