I have the same 7.4.2 and 10.5.3 combination (6GB RAM) and had a similar experience. I had mine running quite well on 6 cores and 64 buffer and moved it up to 7 cores. The system immediately started throwing up the "running out of cpu power" warning until I went up to about 200+ buffer size.

I also notice that the RTAS meter seems to be running quite hard (>20%) even with a brand new session that has no tracks created or plugins inserted. Very wierd.

I just bought a new 8 core Mac Pro due to frustrations with my year old imac's PT processing power. I would be devastated after spending all this money if I couldn't now get decent performance out of PT (i.e low buffers and plenty of plugins running) once Digi release the official Leopard update.

Cheers
