Default error message unable to retrieve

I have been getting an error message that says "unable to retrieve audio fast enough" I am running LE 6.2.2 on OS X 10.3.2 on an Imac with superdrive and a La Cie 120 gb external with firewire. Also is there a way to control the tempo in pro tools from reason adapted as a rewire slave with out having to type it in?
