Re: 2013 Mac pro setup......
Guys,
Don't give up your hopes. Keep your minds positive - about this and other things too. These upset feelings could all be because .. of small thing such as >change<. Things do change. And it's good for most of the time, or okay anyway. Could even be exciting if you put your mind to it. Apple have made up their minds about this machine. Just try to figure out and find new ways around your problems and solutions regarding it. Don't be afraid to use your smart brains to come up with new excellent ways to solve the new problems that come to you. Have some faith in yourselves. I'm a Mac Pro user and I'm looking into spending money on a new machine. I'm not worried at all. I'm sure I will have a solution when I need it. Maybe the new Mac Pro, maybe something else. I'll see. There ... Have a nice day friends.

Coming from two MacPros I've been running two Hacks myself for about a year now, and haven't had a single problem. I built one for a (bigger) fellow studio last year. They are completely satisfied as well. I assisted a few guys here at the DUC living in the states building one (which was a little more bumpy, than doing it with my own hands, but still it worked out) and no complaints so far. A Hackintosh nowadays (since ML) is a viable and rock-solid solution, that's easy to setup. No maintenance required. A lot of horsepower for comparably small $. I understand that people hesitate. But they really don't need to.

- if you have to change your system in near future... On the other hand, there are solutions, for example the upcoming Sonnet Rack, where you can put in addition to your PT Card(s), f.e. a FireWire Card and also 3 HDs...with 1 TB Cable from MacPro I am a big fan of the "old good MacPro", and I really hoped, it would be adapted to these days...!!!! But let's wait, when the new one is released, the prices are clear and other companies bring out solutions as Sonnet, Belkin (TB Dock) etc... I'm totally with you, but as the new design is decided and things to handle it are upcoming, we have to "update" our style of thinking about this... For me, solutions like the SonnetBox are really necessary and by the way flexible for the personal needs and hopefully future...Hope, that the price of the MacPros is also getting smaller...as the chassis... Best Chris PS: I'm not working for these companies, I wrote before, but I hate problems, so I'm more and more searching for good solutions... |

Macs never drop in price but what happens is you get more for the same relative amount of money (inflation taken into account of course).

Re: 2013 Mac pro setup......
While I too would have preferred a traditional box solution, to be absolutely honest, outside of the DVD / BluRay drive, everything in that picture would most likely have been connected via cable to the big box too. Let's be honest here, my big box already looks like a spaghetti nest.
