Go for it.
Make a backup first!
I'm pretty sure I used 4.7.1. I'll check when I boot that Hack. I'm on my MBP at the moment.

I've been doing some reading about your MB…
Check out this link:

There may be something there that will help you as far as kexts, etc… and updating to the ML OSX.

Honestly though, if you have PT 10HD3 TDM running on Lion 10.7.3 you're golden.
Why do you want to upgrade to ML? Are you planning on running PT11?

I struggled with it only for that reason. To see what the differences were.
Your TDM system will not benefit from ML. It can't run 64bit.

Remember you NEED more RAM. That could be your problem right there.
The OS needs 4GB and now that PT is using a RAM based buffer you absolutely need at least 4GB to operate it. I suggest adding 16GB first and foremost.

Good luck!!

Hey, yes if you could check the version of Multibeast you used before i start again with ML, that would be great.

In terms of Lion vs ML, you're absolutely right.

The whole aim of the exercise was to enable me to run PT10 HD & Komplete 9 together on my TDM rig, & Meads has sorted that out for me now, so if I get no further on this journey, then i'm still happy with the result.

However, if I *can* get ML running too, I feel it would probably give the whole rig an extra year of life, in terms of future software compatibility, so would still be worth getting to work in the long run.

Cheers

I went back to my notes and I used Multibeast 5.2.1 for this ML build.
I don't usually run PT11 but I launched it yesterday to make sure it worked and indeed it does.
So I can confirm that with my particular build I have PT10HD4 TDM as well as PT11HD (no HDX cards) Native running on this Hack.

PT11HD does lower the CPU usage dramatically BUT this is without any plugins.
If I launch PT10HD and take all the plugins off the session it's virtually the same.

I like the changes I see in PT11 but until there are AAX plugin versions of what I normally use and they LOAD CORRECTLY (this seems to be a well documented problem here on the DUC) I'm staying on PT10HD.

I can track and mix in TDM or mix Native with the extra ADC if necessary.

Let me know how things work out for you.

Isn't it really all about using the gear that is "truly" ready for prime time?

Not if you want to see how the other half lives.

You know studiojimi, this particular thread is about people trying to help each other with their systems.

I'm overjoyed that you have a nice big stable system, you can work and make money doing so.

Have a nice day.

I've spoken to him as well.
His Hacks are not for TDM based systems.
