first thing to get is the Waves Platinum Bundle. it covers the more ground than any other single bundle. thou there are some plugs that do invidual tasks better than/different than the ones found in the P Bundle, if you can't make good sounding music with it, there's something wrong with you, not the bundle.

if that bundle is too expensive for you, then go for the Gold Bundle. it covers the same bases, just not quite the same quality.

That's not exactly correct. The difference between Waves Bundles is in the quantity and which plug-ins you get bundled. Not the quality.

In other words, the Gold Bundle (more expensive) comes with all the exact same plug-in as the Native Power Pack Bundle (less expensive). But., the Gold Bundle has a large selection of additional ones.

So, for example, if you use a Q10 EQ from the Gold Bundle and a Q10 EQ in the Native Power Pack Bundle, they are both of the same exact quality (because it's the same exact plug-in).

no, what i said is correct. yes, you get MORE plugs with the Platinum bundle. but the point is, they dont' do anything DIFFERENT, persay, than the plugs found in the Gold bundle. they do it BETTER.

for example; with the Gold, you get L1. it's okay. with the Platinum, yeah, you have the L1, but you also have the L2, which is pretty good.

get it?

good.

I think the confusion lies the way that you worded your first response. It's easy to read it as if you had said the Gold pack had inferior plugins, which it doesn't, it just has fewer of the same plugs. Your judging the bundle as a whole, dkrz is looking at the quality of each individual plugin. So technically, you're both correct. The Platinum is better in terms of overall variety, but not in the individual quality of each plugin. An L1 is a L1 etc.... If you only need what's in the Gold bundle, the Gold is better. Blah, blah, blah...

I make hip hop, r&b, and jazz music. I've been using the stock plug ins to this point. Would either of the Wave plug bundles be something I need? Can some list a few must have plugs(and what they do) included in the Waves bundle?

Yes, you need waves! Once you go waves you'll never once again use the digi plugins...Perhaps the Dverb here and there, but for the most part you'll ditch the rest...

I would also recomend the McDSP CompBank, and FilterBank Plugins.

Some good compressors, and Eq's there.

Give them a shot.

Yep...WAVES are a must have!!! I bet every Major Pro Tools studio has them. And many smaller ones too!

Waves Platinum bundle has 25 plug-ins!!! O.K. ...... I Got this from the site---

Rennassance Channel- A precision channel processor combining equalization, compression, limiting, and gating.Selectable EQ/Dynamics signal flow Stereo rotation control for better pan control.
Efficient DSP usage.

Renn EQ- Double-precision resolution vintage equalizer, featuring distinctive emulation of classic analog EQ sound, for rich and clear equalization.

Renn Compressor-Exceptional compressor with vintage Opto modeling, plus the exclusive Electro Mode, and an L1-style limiter. Dramatic dynamic compression, with ARC™, the best auto-release technology

L1-The L1-Ultramaximizer from Waves combines look ahead peak limiting with advanced requantization.
This gives maximum level and highest resolution for all audio applications, from CD mastering to multimedia. L1 can be used as a mono or stereo limiter, with or without IDR processing, as well as the 'original' L1.

C4-The new standard in Multiband. Pure innovation , with 4 band up and down expansion, limiting, compression, plus dynamic and standard EQ.

Renn reverb-Classic sound and vintage-style controls for the demands of everyday production. Rich reverb tails plus our 2nd-generation early reflection system gives the density and texture you want.

Enigma- Ideal for creation of creative filtering, it combines a complex notch filter system, short delay feedback loops, and modulation. Absolutely distinctive.

Mondo-a very unique combo of linked modulators: AM, FM, and Rotation (stereo panning), for gentle wandering guitar solo panning or bizarre destructive effects, all in one plug-in. A single LFO drives all modulators with independent phase offsets between the modulator signals. Wacky, pulverizing, but still sensitive and totally unique, MondoMod throws a wrench into the works just when you need it.

Q10- 10 band EQ/ There's a Q6/Q4/Q2/Q1

C1-compressor

Super tap- delays

De-esser

Ultra pitch- pitch shifter!

Meta Flanger-produces vintage tape-flanging, phaser-emulation, and special effects like no other flanger, ever. Create gentle choruses, sharp phasing effects and a variety of true dual-delay flanging sounds quickly. The wet signal includes filters so you can flange or phase just part of the signal (and they are FIR filters for absolutely perfect harmonic alignment). Also features phase inversions at all key points, extensive factory presets of vintage emulations (Mutron, MXR, Itchycoo Park) and more

Audio Track-The original channel insert with 4-band, fully parametric, EQ, compressor, and gate, all in one space-saving window, now 88.2/96kHz-ready! This is ideal for multimedia producers, voiceover, project studios, and more. Efficient on any system.

PAZ Psychoacoustic Analyzer-Realtime analyzer based on our hearing, shows 52 or 68 bands, with RMS, peak, weighting, variable integration time, and much more. Built on the math that the ear uses...See what you've been hearing!Perfect for mastering, trouble-shooting, environmental analysis and more. See more of what your audio is really made of. See peak or RMS frequency content and levels quickly. Includes a Stereo Position Display for evaluating the 'spread' of the source.

TrueVerb Room Emulator- reverb!

Doppler-Create real-time doppler effects, both realistic and "outside the box". Waves Doppler gives you auto and manual triggering modes, plus full control of air damping, panning, pitch, path curve, gain, start/stop points, and reverb tail.

PS22 Pseudostereo-The revolutionary 3rd-generation stereo-from-mono tool. Ideal for restoration, SFX, guitar leads, and more. Absolutely without compare! Creates a rich and spacious stereo image from mono sources, and also enhances the spread of stereo sources. It can be used on single tracks of a mix, such as lead instruments or backing vocals, or for stereo enhancement of full mixes or old recordings.

Renaissance Vox-A great compressor, limiter, and gate. Increases perceived volume and stability for vocal and solo instruments. Bring vocals to the front of the mix.

Renaissance Bass-Renaissance Bass A second generation of Waves popular MaxxBass offering a simplified interface. Achieve that warm, fat, and massive low end with fewer adjustments and no distortion

Renaissance DeEsser-Renaissance DeEsser The next generation DeEsser, offering Adaptive Threshold Control, yielding more natural sounding results.

Linear Phase Equalizer -Eliminates phase distortion with phase linear FIR filters to provide more transparent sound that better perserves the musical balance. Hear what you have been missing.
Linear Phase Multiband -Provides independent gain and dynamics (compression, EQ and limiting) on five bands with linear phase crossovers. Ideal for purist mastering on full range mixes.

L2 Ultramaximizer-The next step in peak limiting with ARC™ (Automatic Gain Control) to add the extra gain you need to master your projects. IDR™ and ninth order filters maintain the highest quality.

S1 Stereo Imager (with 48-bit component)-True Blumlein shuffling, MS/LR procesing, four unique stereo-image tools, unequaled anywhere. Now 88.2/96kHz-ready! The S1 is a set of tools for remastering stereo mixes by enhancing and altering the stereo effect, designed for whenever the best stereo effect from a stereo track, mix or recording is required for mixing, mastering or remix applications.

The McDsp's plug-ins are easy on the computer and Kick Ass!!!
Analog Channel-simulate analog
Filter Bank-damn near every EQ made!
Compressor Bank- pretty much every compressor made!
They're a little pricey, but hey Colin had FREE upgrades to OSX and when you buy them you can put them LEGALLY on two machines and you get the TDM/HD plug-ins with it!

Bomb Factorys' 96k Compressor bundle ROCKS!!!!!Period!!

DUY has an RTAS bundle that JAMS too!!!!
And The Vintage Warmer here kicks all kinds of butt!!!
It's not a bundle, but it rocks and its cheap!!!!

McDSP would be the first thing I would buy. I can't start a mix without analong channel.
