Default Can I uninstall these SP2 files?

Somehow I have these SP2 files installed on my computer, I saw them when looking at my ADD/Remove list. I don't know how I installed them on my computer, but can I remove these safely without messing up my computer?

You can try a system restore. We did a system restore last nite that saved my butt. We also have uninstalled updates from Add/Remove Programs and near the bottom you will see all the System Updates that were installed and they can be removed.
Good luck.

Lp,

I think that ms is already patching problems with sp2. I do think these have already been added to the update page even if sp2 is not installed. I could be wrong, but i think i read this somewhere.

Hi,

There are problems with Pro Tools and service pack 2. Check out the compatibility announcement here:

http://www.digidesign.com/compato/

You should be able to remove service pack 2 from the add remove programs control panel with out any problems.

Thanks,

It looks like I can't, when I try to remove the file ( Hotfix(SP2)) It says ''If you remove this file, some of these programs might now work, pretty much listed every music program/every thing important on my computer .

If they appear in Add / Remove programs, then you can remove the install.

You might want to check your automatic update settings in Control Panel -> System. Software won't install itself unless you make it so..

LP!
Hey man! I accidentally installed what I thought were mere hotfixes the other night. Turns out that they were portions of SP2. It blew up my Pro Tools and said that I needed to reinstall. Tried that and nada. It then came to mind that maybe my updates were indeed SP2 items and they were. So I went in and uninstalled all but 1. That damn thing WOULD NOT go away. I did a restore from the day before and it was still there. Concluding that the XP restore is not a full restore at all. So what and how did I fix it you ask.. I went into the registry and deleted every and all instance of that specific number.

1. Go to RUN and then type REGEDIT

2. Search for the numbers of the service packs under scruteny.

3. DELETE THEM!

4. Once it finishes the search, search again to make sure and REBOOT!

5. ONLY reboot the ones that are associated with that number. Remember the Registry is NOT YOUR FRIEND!

After reboot, pro tools worked again and all service Packs were gone in Control Panel.

Good luck and let me know if you need anymore help. E-mail me if so....
