Default What kind of RAM should i get.

Hi there.

I just got a G5 Dual 2.0 and am wondering if there is any difference between Joe Shmoe RAM from where ever, or if I should get the apple memory from the apple store... Is there really any difference?

Thanks!

Dodge RAM Van! at least you know the transmission will go out!

Get real RAM from the Apple store, it's the hardest thing to diagnose when a system is faulty due to bad/cheap ram.

Don't buy the Apple RAM, it's just Crucial RAM with jacked up prices. It's excellent RAM, just way overpriced (trust me, I used to work for Apple). You can definitely make a mistake by buying super-cheap RAM, but there are a few places that make quality memory chips at decent prices.

You can buy the Crucial RAM for cheaper than Apple direct from crucial.com, or from places like newegg, but I get all my memory from Other World Computing which meets & exceeds the specs required by Apple - I've never had a single problem in any of my machines or the many many many computers I've set up for all my clients over the past 5 years.

You can get good aftermarket RAM at prices much better than Apple offers. Just make sure you get it from a reputable vendor that stands behind their products like Crucial or Mac Gurus.

If you go with the cheapest you can find you'll likely regret it later. If you get it from Apple your paying too much, and I have seen plenty of Apple RAM that wasn't the best for the application or went bad.

I bought 2 gig from CRUCIAL and have not had ONE problem.
Apple is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Besides that, Ive seen just as
many APPLE RAM issues as non- apple ram issues.
