Default Anyone Installed PTHD 8.1 on Win XP SP2??

Just wondering if anyone had installed the latest version (8.1) on an XP system with Service pack 2. I know that the Avid website only qualifies 8.1 on SP3, but I am running 8.0.4 right now on SP2 with NO ISSUES whatsoever with PT or any of my plugs. I have read in other threads about SP3 causing issues with plugs, error messages in PT (which, I am guessing, 8.1 fixes), etc. so I am a little scared to update my OS to SP3 just so I can get HEAT (I cannot afford to upgrade my boxes to the new ones just yet, so I don't need the support for the new HD i/o, etc.). Please chime in if you have installed 8.1 on an XP system running SP2 and let me know of any issues you encounter with either PT or any of your plugs. I'm a little scared to dip my toe in the water right now since Avid specifically only qualifies SP3 for 8.1. Digi Tech Supt: if you know the answer, please chime in too. Thanks!

The answer:

Clone your system drive, and put the clone on a separate hard drive. Install SP3 and 8.1. If it doesn't work... just swap the drive, and no dramas.

Thanks for the reply, Dan. I was honestly hoping to avoid going to all that trouble just to see if it will work, but you are correct in that it would be the easiest and safest way to test it on my own. I really don't "need" to update to 8.1 for any real tangible reason at all (other than my own insatiable need to always have "the latest version"), so I may just sit back awhile and let others test it out and provide feedback. There are bound to be some bugs, even with SP3.

Right on. Precisely why I think I'll just sit tight happily using 8.0.4 with no issues until the day comes to upgrade the PC (to a Mac Pro if I have my way!)

Um... General Announcments says 8.1, and Technical Alerts say 8.1cs1. Very first two threads on the main page.
