What?

Thermodynamics of these is the best part of it.. I can run this beast nearly 100% capacity the whole day and the fan is still dead silent.

Any donkey can upgrade memory and ssd of these, but sure you need to be somewhat experienced to swap CPU or GPU. Miles better than mini.

Why do you need PCIe? Isn't TB more versatile than PCIe without TB?

sorry I missed this. The thermals on the trashcan are a mess. a slew of them have problems with heating coooling as the design team assumed that both gpus would be running but thats not always the case (pardon the pun) and where the ot and cold meet there would be some cracking or issues. Also the machine under load (100% on all cores for extended periods of time) has many issues with heat.

Have you actually used one or just read some article (which is it?) because this is first time I have ever heard someone mentions trashcan has poor thermals...

I need pcie for hdx cards Lets just look at costs real quick...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Mac-P...sAAOSw6xJbqcl1

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Apple-...IAAOSw8sBbqTVt

which is a better computer?

The drawback of a 2012 macpro is no usb3 or tb. You can add usb3 for $40 into a pcie slot and it works well.

the drawback of a 2013 is no pcie cards. How much does it cost to add 3 pcie cards to a 2013 macpro?

I'd take the trashcan any day. Upgradeability-wise; you cannot add TB to cheesegrater but you can add PCIe to a trashcan. Noise levels? Trashcan wins again. Performance? Trashcan.

And this thread is about current Mac Mini -- sorry folks, my comparison to current Mac Pro derailed the thread.

This is the first time? Oh you should check it out...

https://www.theverge.com/2017/4/4/15...lure-admission

a quote from an apple exec...

“I think we designed ourselves into a bit of a thermal corner, if you will,” one of Apple’s top executives reportedly said.
