You keep saying that but the times have changed and hardware is Hardly as expensive today as 5-10 yrs ago so No, 5000 USD is way too much IMNSHO!

6000 euro for a 192 ??? Would like to see that reciept! We never paid anything close to that figure for our 3 x 192’s back when.

I remember when 16MB Ram for our P3 cost a Fortune too but that was then and this is 2020!

Dude, I have to pay tax you can deduct that.

It is just a price point for something worth something for pro market. Nothing to do with what you get with that amount of money. It is just an amount of money businesses have got used to spend.

Like it used to be pretty fixed price point for PowerMac / Mac Pro until this new cheesegrater came in and added a zero before the dot.

Yes, same fortune need to be paid for topping up the new cheesegrater but you get different amount of memory.

For example, OWC sells 1.5TB kit for the cheesegrater for only 20k USD -- I remember when 1MB card cost over 500 so 16MB would be at least 8k and that is 90's money and you can pretty safely double that as a guesstimate. At that time top-of-the-line CPU cost 250 USD

Or otherwise my memory needs upgrade

Ya got it rite man.

Everyone needed 16MB with 80486 too, I know I did (when I was old enough to play games with it). Point being it was topping up the computer of its era.

Also had whopping 4MB with 80386 and that was the time with SIPP "comb" memory which was very easy to break

Just trying to prove a point f.ex memory has always had its price point pretty much fixed, just as the years go by you get more bytes. Topping still costs a fortune now as it was in 90's

Avid should have had a TB box out a few years ago but now people purchased MP7.1's and can load cards .....always late on product and a dollar to expensive. Avid is not a very smart company and just surviving off past design that is old.

How many have purchased the MTRX/DAD system $5k chassis and $2k each card....? Where's the I/O spec for the MTRX Studio?

Sure. If you want lots of storage, a UAD satellite, more than one HDX card, video out, etc then the Mac Pro probably ends up being cheaper as you're not paying for all those extra chassis.

But whats more 5000 Dollars US for the MTRX Studio which will be approx 6000 USD here with conversion rate is a bit steep isn’t it? And what preamp specs are there as we dont know what these 2 pres are and so on.

I imagine they're the same as the MTRX 2 Mic/Line Pristine AD Card. Funnily, my MTRX is almost exactly the same specification as the MTRX Studio, I would almost take a downgrade if it had AES/EBU and was worth the cost of switching. Mostly to have a power switch that is on the front (as I have to leave my MTRX on all the time as it's in a rack!).

I hate power switches on the back of devices.
I bought one of these:
