Digital iLok, VS Buying a Physical iLock Key?.

Hi everyone. While I've been using Perpetually-Licensed Protools for years, this is the first year, that I am running it via Subscription. So there is something I'm not quite sure about concerning iLok.

My question concerns the iLok Account I have linked to my Sub'd Protools.

Obviously the iLok I currently have only becomes activated when I boot up Protools while connected to the net.
However, I can see this being a problem, when I go to venues and try to use my Protools rig, as part of my show. Un-secure and weak wifi etc etc.

So, If I purchased an actual physical iLok Key from Avid, would I be able to boot up my Protools, anywhere, without having to be connected to the net?.

Yes. You'll just have to move the PT license asset on to your physical iLok. When going this way also get what's called a 'dongle buddy' which is a short cable that goes between the computer and iLok. That way there's no stress on the computer connector should somebody bump into your setup.

Don't know if you can buy an iLok from Avid. You can buy direct from iLok themselves at https://www.ilok.com/#!home
There are also other places you can buy from - Sweetwater, etc. There's even some plugin developers that give you a 'free' iLok when you buy from them.
