Okay, here are my results:

Track count: 32 audio, 127 Aux*
Computer: G5 Dual 2.5
RAM: 8 GB
OS: Tiger 10.4.2
PT LE 7
Hardware: Digi 002
Recording to a Maxtor 7200 second internal drive
*please note: my CPU meter never went into the red; instead, I got a dialog box after trying to add one more aux (to 128) track, that I had exceeded the track limit. Also, after I had added 100 Aux tracks, my sixty seconds of audio was no longer audible.

Very impressive, but I'm not sure I understand that last line - what do you mean , not audible?

Your last line makes me wonder if you are doing the Davec test correctly. Your recorded audio will be nothing but a flat line and never audilbe.

Also, once you reach the 128 aux limit you can start using the new instrument track which is basically an aux track. the only problem is that we only have 32 of them.

There was a PC user that reached the 128 aux limit so he just started to add the instrument track to continue on. And if anyone is curious, it was with single Athlon X2 4400+ CPU.

What kind of results are we going to get with quads etc?? Wow!!!

That is a pretty impressive Davec result you have. Kudos to Digi for really making the dual core and multi cpu systems smooooooooooooooooke.

OK, Heres my results (Whoops, I realized these results are for a buffer size set to 512, not 1024... will redo and repost):

Track count: 31
Computer: G5 iMac 2.1
Ram: 1.5 gig
OS: Tiger 10.4.3
Pro Tools Ver: 6.9.2cs4
Hardware: MBox 1

Recording to an external OWC Mercury Elite Pro FW 400 drive

Note - first time I tried 31 tracks, I got a message that the disk IO couldn't handle it, but then 30 tracks worked, and then I tried 31 again and that worked (so that is close to the edge). 32 tracks definitely gets "holding off CPU"

24 at 1024 buffer on my Mini w/specs below.

At any lower buffer my CPU maxed out. With this setting it was my HD that couldn't keep up. Refressh rate didn't suffer terribly either. Considering it's nowhere near bleeding edge like the new dual core CPU's and quad core Mac I thought it did fairly well. Even if I'm 136+ tracks behind. I can't wait to see some quad core scores. If I start saving now I'll probably get enough saved up for the "New G6" Power Mac in 2007.
