Default 192 not connected, but it is...

I got a 192 today, hooked it's primary port to my HD core card, plugged in the power cable, turned it on, fired up the computer, launched Pro-Tools and it's telling me there's no interface connected.

The lights on the interface are on and the sample rate changes when I do things like reboot the computer.

I hit the "ok" button to rescan during the PT's launch sequence, and the sample rate and sync mode lights on the 192 go out, then it tells me there's no interface connected.

I tried another digilink cable but to no avail. I have nothing else connected to the interface but the digilink cable and the power cable. I tried hooking it to the Accel cards (I have HD3 Accel) but nothing there either.

I also ran digitest and it dosen't show up under the firmware upgrade menu....

I checked the ram by pulling out the 1GB upgrade, but that didn't work either. I also unplugged my 2 iloks to see if it was them, but nope.

I installed the HD core card into slot 2, right above the display card. Then the Accel cards into slots 3,4.

I'm on a 1st Gen G5 Dual 2Ghz with 1.5Ghz ram, 128MB vid card, 23" cinema display and HD3 Accel running PT's 7.0

Thoughts?

Have you tried trashing your DigiSetup file (first and foremost)?
(PT and DAE prefs should be next, if the first doesn’t do the trick.)

IHTH.

thanks...

it get's weirder. If I take out the Accel cards, and just leave the core card in it works and I can launch PT's.

If I install 1 of the cards, either one, using either of the flex cables, it won't work.

Core card is in slot 2, Accel cards installed into slot 3

I tried both cards with both cables, and it wouldn't work either time.

You may have your Pro Tools card order reversed and/or the TDM ribbon cables connected incorrectly.

Try removing all of your Pro Tools cards (shut down the computer first!), except the Core card, connect your 192 to the Core and then try launching Pro Tools.

If this works then add one of the other PT cards and try it again. If it doesn't work, reverse the order of the two cards and try it again. If it does work, add the third card. If that doesn't work, call Digidesign Tech Support 650-731-6100.

Be sure to connect the TDM ribbon cables in this way... Port B on your Core card to Port A on the second card, Port B on the second card to Port A on the third card.

Hope this helps,

I am sure you have your TDM Flexcables connected incorrectly to your Accel Cards, they are B to A, it's a little confusing

You think a company that makes AUDIO hardware could intuitively label the ports?

How about OUTPUT and INPUT
or FROM and TO

hey, "A and B" are intuitive -- my 2 year old knows that A comes before B -- Randy, you're in good company!
