Default Sibelius and Pro Tools MIDI

Morning All

Can Sibelius trigger Pro Tools MIDI or imported into Pro Tools MIDI and assigned any virtual instrument?

no, but wouldn't this be wonderful if it could? i find the lack of
a notation editor in PT notable .. and having products such as
Sibelius or Finale being able to be integrated with PT in some
fashion would be a major time saver. heck, i'd even take Rewire.
although some form of a midi insert would be better.

ps: i'm on a feature request rampage ... so i'll enter this one too ;-)
pps: i just don't think piano roll ...

other than midi devices, i believe Kontakt is the only instrument
which is natively hosted within Sibelius. i also feature requested
with Sibelius that they support Rewire .... if they (in-turn) could
support VSTi .. i think i'd have a pretty workable solution.

I think so ...for myself no more penciling in chords and apreggio's.

My creativity is starting to supersede my playing ability.

Yeah I have noticed a number of threads requesting this very thing and I tend to agree, a notation editor would be pretty cool.

Absolute routing ...I'd go with ReWire.

Evening

Any Sibelius users out there, I'm interested in knowing whether Sibelius exports MIDI files into Pro Tools and still keeps the original score in tact? In other words, if you write a score for, lets say five instruments, and export these files, can Pro Tools distinguish between the individual instruments (scores) and create them in their appropriate MIDI/Instrument tracks? And if so, does this also depend on what edition of Sibelius you use?

Sibelius has it's own score format (.sib) which is its representation. you can
save a Sibelius score out as MIDI. It will map the instruments to the general
MIDI format (instrument assignments).

The same is true on the way back in .. if you use general midi assignments for
tracks and patches/banks, Sibelius will figure it out. If you don't you can still
use a mapping or re-assign once loaded.

it's never been a problem for me. granted, i wish there was a much tighter
integration between these two programs .. it would be a dream come true
for many composers out there.

Yeah just thinking of ways around this non integration between Silbelius and Pro Tools.

Do you find that Sibelius has much advantage over penciling triggers in Pro Tools MIDI?
Do you use the program this way? Using Pro Tools as the playback medium.
