Default mp3 option after hard drive wipe

To Whom This May Concern:

Some months ago, my OS crashed and was forced to reformat my hard drive. Now, I've upgraded my computer and feel comfortable about re-installing Pro-Tools M-Powered 8.0

Before the wipe, I purchased the mp3 export option. Now, it's not listed in my downloads. Is there anyway I can re-download this? Or do I have to pay again?

Thanks,
M H

Look on your installation DVD for something like additional files or something like that.

The mp3 .exe is there on the dvd..

Install that and your license on your ILOK will allow you to use it.

Try logging into the Digistore to see if the authorization code is listed in your history.

Not to hijack this thread, but I am faced with a similar situation.

I purchased the mp3 option while on version 7.0. I will be clean-installing 7.4 on a new computer this week.

Will my authorization code work with 7.4 (it does now on my current upgraded system)?

Note that it does not appear on my Ilok, nor should it.

Bill

You can contact Digidesign with your proof of purchase and they will remedy that.

I had the same problem, PT 6.4- this worked for me:

By the way- I found the answer at http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...&categoryid=34

under mp3 authorization and purchase information. I was afraid the purchase was too long ago, but alas, could retrieve the auth. code.

Hello all,

I've tried everything I know and it's not working. Here's what I did:

I opened my iLok account and the license for the mp3 export is still there.
It said in the Digistore that I should update my iLok.
The Digistore also said that the mp3demo and the actual mp3 codecs shouldn't be in the same folder.
I went to the folder and under codecs, there was no mp3 anything.

I remembered that in my v7.4 CD, there was the install mp3 export in the installation (I think it may have been removed when I uninstalled v7.4 to install v8). I tried to open the setup, but it detected my v8 install and closed. I couldn't even see the option to just install the mp3 export.

Before and after, I'm getting the same result in PT when I try to Bounce to Disk: it fails to find the .dll file (codec!) required to export into an mp3.

Do you know if it would be possible to ask for a .exe of the mp3 export option?

Also, I've noticed that PT needs a license to activate Transfuser plug-in (which I have as one of the free-plug-in-rebates) and it can't find any. My iLok doesn't have it (but it does have Hybrid, another free plug-in). How do I obtain this license? It's not in MyDigi account.

Also, on another side note, my virtual instruments, from Digidesign and EastWest....I can't figure out how make it play that instrument on an instrument track. I remember how to do it in v7.4, but it seems to be totally different in v8. Yes, all plug-ins are RTAS (.dpm) in the plug-ins folder with all the other effects.

I know I'm asking a lot of different issues, but I figured it be best to keep it in one post. Please help me! I would like to make music again.

Thank you!

Okay, update 2

I managed to find the .exe and it's fixed! Yay, I can Bounce as a mp3.

Thanks for the help.

Now, about Transfuser and my VI's

Thanks!
