All depends..... Depends on the video card and depends on the playback device. Some TV's and projectors slough off Component. But quality being equal, you will see no difference.

This would've even saved us some money since we hooked up HDMI splitters to feed the talent's screens when the card is actually able to output both HDMI and Component at the same time.

So, there isn't any signal degradation going on compared to HDMI?

Another solution would be something like this:

Analog component is much more reliable than HDMI..... you will find out. Besides.. why are you so bent on having a digital picture.. the very best... when you are using it to work with audio? and most likely an offline work print!

Personally, I wouldn't care too much, but we'd like to provide our clients with the best possible picture because we usually do the final acceptance screening here before their product hits the air. Plus: Funny / sad thing, if it looks better, it automatically sounds better to the clients.

Hi Gary

I'm not actually in that suite for a few days, but I think it's HDMI3.
I'll try to remember to check when I'm there..

Hi,

In our studio we're experiencing the same issue. I think I found a solution for it: an HDMI audio inserter.

Anyone has experience with this? I'm curious about sync / latency...

Marcel

That's the solution we are using right now. Sync is slightly different than before (you'd have to re-measure with syncheck). It's not the most stable thingy in the world, and sometimes you'll have to reset it (= plugging power) in order to get the picture to the screen again. I'd love to have a more professional solution, but I couldn't find andy.
