Avid has a 20x40 booth at NAMM Jan 14 2010

I think given the no-show at AES this is relevant information. They felt it is worth having a presence. Even if it's not a huge booth it isn't small and it's smack in front of the lobby just like AES SF was when they introduced PT8.

Not clear what they will be announcing, although we can at minimum expect the new AIR lineup I think. One hopes for PT9 with better value systems across the board...

I would not hold my hopes up for PT9 when the current PT only is at 8.01cs1.
I would imagin many more csx's and 8.0.x's befor a new version number comes. Maby in 2 years.

Hello. Well this is a strange turn of events. After all, Digidesign went out of their way to let everyone know that they were not going to AES on the one hand to save money and on the other hand because they didn't think being there would be that big a deal if they had nothing to announce. In other words to set up a booth with nothing new to show would have been a waste of time and money. We'll overlook the fact that they technically could have had a smaller booth, like they will now, and talk about Eleven Rack which was a new product.

So if they are going to NAMM it has to be because they have something new to show. Because it would be the strangest move in history if they skipped AES but went to NAMM and had nothing new to show. I also find it curious that in the TDM forum, in the thread called 'Huge ADC bug', Digidesign TS made a post on Nov 19th saying there really wouldn't be anything new to report for at least 60 days. Which of course works out to about mid January.

It has to be a new product. Otherwise it's the strangest and maybe dumbest move ever.

I was speaking specifically about progress on the bug, as I never can talk about new products, dates, etc.

AES is really for Pocket Protector types
NAMM is for the buyers of retail stores
So it makes sense if your only going to do one do the one were the buyers are.
