Default FILM:PRO-TOOLS:SYNC What equipment should I get?

I have the 002 Rack a miniDV cam, a keyboard...etc.

I read some books on ediitng and syncign audio for video and there seem to be sync issues.

If I am going to be using Final Cut Pro 4.5 and Pro-Tools LE 6.4 --with smpte and all that... what else may I need. I dont have a big budget and neeed some work-around solution a "ghetto" way.

I imagine I'd need a DAT recorder, perhaps portable?
Also some syncing device?

Also, what is a device with which I coudl change the sampel rate to account for drop-frame stuff?

I really need some help.

Thanks from NYC.

You would need first off the ability to run SMPTE Timecode in protools or another DAW. Thus you would need the DV tool kit or a TDM setup. You would also need a synchroniser such as a Midi Timepiece by MUTU. That would get you up and running and would cost under $2000. You can find useed Midi timepieces on ebay...get the usb one.

Hope that helps.

the point here is ...Whats your final target ? its commercial?

If you hav a Final Cut 4 and PT. 6 on any version maybe only you need a
good video equipment for final pourpouses like a DVD RW on your machine ,
Betacam SP or a SuperVHS Hi Fi

w/Pt 6.1 on OSx you will import your dv video to session and sync and work fine.

But if you need work outdoors first you need a portable Dat w/ a decent mic like a
Akg 440 or Shure VP 88

To sync w/ other machines the best and unexpenssive its a Motu Micro Express USB Box,
its a midi port an sync device
