Default FLAC Support

Can I count on seeing flac support any time soon? Its time consuming to have to export to RX4 to save it in flac form.

You might be able to see what the level of interest is in FLAC here: http://protools.ideascale.com/

If there's nothing there, submit something and maybe it will gain broader support.

I know it's not as convenient as having it within PT itself, but I suggesting using Max and batch convert to FLAC with ID3 tags etc.

Opening it RX4 seems like a long winded way of getting a FLAC file.

Hi Sardi , I just installed this . It says " Max can even split a single audio file into multiple tracks using a cue sheet."

..., But I cant find anywhere either in the preferences , nor anywhere else on how to do this (incl their blog).

Do you know how this is done Sardi ?

Max is discontinued though it might still work, haven't tried.

Haven't tried this one either but it's up to date, try it, sounds good.

Bumping this: FLAC and WavPack import would be great.

PT can import MP3, why not FLAC and WavPack?

I'm curious, what segment of the pro audio world regularly works with Flac?

As a long time music guy, I don't see it.

I'd love FLAC support. I've converted my entire sound library to FLAC, and the ability to use it natively with ProTools would be amazing.

I highly doubt we'll ever see it.

Maybe they could make a single version of ProTools and EuControl that actually work first....

A few years ago, that was the rationale for not getting Ambisonics into Pro Tools... Sound Effects libraries could be stored in FLAC. Mind you, all I'm asking is import of FLAC (up to 24 bit and 8 channels) and WavPack (up to 32 bit and 256+ channels).

As I said, since PT imports MP3s, FLAC and WavPack import is not such a far fetched idea. By the way, Cubase/Nuendo can import/export/work in FLAC, Reaper can import/export/work in FLAC and WavPack.
