I think it's about the time LE and M-Powered should get ADC as well.

My suggestion:

There will be three versions. Essential, LE & HD. The same native base audio engine. Any of Pcie cards with and without motorola chips which still requires one of those I/O boxes /various Avid firewire/ USB audio interfacfes can be used.

To increase track counts, simply upgrade to HD. Essential can have up to 48. LE 64 or 128. HD unlimited.

Command 8 and C24 can be used with LE or HD. All version have built-in ADC.

PCIe cards with motorola chips can be still used with a new driver or something.

This way you guys still keeps making money with I/Os, audio interfaces, controller, etc.

PCIe cars without DSP chips can be sold for like $1000~2000. Give everybody the upgrade path for software, too.

Motorola chips for new PCIe cards are for people who still want extra power for some plug-ins, but not requirement anymore.

Am I dreaming? Maybe, but I think this is the way for Pro tools in the near future. It's already industry standard. Nothing to be afraid of, Avid.
