Default Control24 starting to smell like baking electronics .

I noticed yesterday that my Control24 is starting to smell like baking electronics .I noticed it the moment I walked in the room . At first I thought I forgot to put out a cigaret or something and it was melting plastic . I turned it off immediately. It has gotten very warm recently do to extended extended use. Has anybody ever had this happen . Is there something I could do now to prevent this from becoming another broken down pile of electronics.

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated I absolutely do not have any money to replace or fix it . I already have a few things that need to be fixed before I can even record again that I can't afford. So this would be a huge setback for me .

I know there has been some issues with the power supply on some of those. I don't have one. Just remember reading the thread. I want to say it was mainly a cap that was giving out. However I think they found you can get a replacement from the supplier for a decent amount. Whether it not this is your issue I have no idea. It could be, but normally caps pop. They don't give much advance notice.

I agree. If it smells that much, it probably is a power supply issue. Most power supply parts can be had for small dollars. If you know how to solder and use a VOM, you should be able to fix this yourself. If not, it still should not be too expensive.

Good luck.

Here is a link from AVID Support...

It's probably a good idea to get this fixed before the C|24 itself is compromised by the PSU going south.

Luckily it has not made that smell since.
But it seems like my old DIGI003 can be repaired for $40.
Maybe I can sell the DIGI and PT9 for $600 or just keep it for rack filler.
Or at least I can offer this to the under $20 hour client.

SKYNET, really common man. Am I the only person that thinks this is strange .
If Arnold shows up at my studio how is he supposed to fit in the digicompressor !
