Default Softube had a bad idea

Softube updates has to come through an active app Gobbler.

Gobbler needs to know your ilok account and your password... (wich i don't like)
After installing, and logging in, gobbler didn't know wich plugins I own so there was nothing to update... while there was.

Uninstalled everything and sent softube a message to bring back the old downloadable update.

These guys were the smart guys in plugin country and now this bad idea... hope they turn it around.

Its is not your iLok account login it needs to know, but your SOFTUBE account details. That is why it did not see anything. I did it this morning and it did take a good 10 minutes to set up, but hopefully it will be very easy to update the next time. Easier than the previous method if you ask me. Which also left GIGs of data all over my file system...

I did fill in the Softube account details... but no... didn't work for me.
Also the app stays active in the upper right corner, like avid update app.
I really don't like this kind of update methods, if every software developer did this , my menu bar would be filled up entirly.

clearly not for my taste

It was bad enough earlier when they had their "install everything and have activation software to choose which ones to put in proper directories" software

I agree! I do not prefer this kind of installer. I hate installer apps that run in the background on the task bar.

Can't you just prevent it from running when the is starts and only opening when you need to update? I know that can be done in Windows

Yes, it can be set to run at start, or not. Worked fine here on Mac. Will load on a PC tomorrow.

Back up this morning. Last night the US had an election for President and the internet was going crazy with the load on it so that could be the answer.

IMO softube absolutely suck with this new update crap..
Before I would just click on the latest update and install and done end of story.

Now this stupid gobbler BS that wants passwords etc after the download and install
..., to which I forgot the password (ie;as I never had sign in to softube before.., so I ask for a forget password link , and 1/2 hour later it still hasnt been sent to my email ,

back to softube to request again .., 1/2 hour later AGAIN still nothing ..

I give up .., I HATE YOU SOFT TUBE > YOU SUCK
