Copy plugin automation greyed out

Does anyone have this problem?

If I go to the Copy Special menu Copy Plugin Automation is always greyed out.

If I try and copy plugin settings, (making sure the plugin is visable) and I press win+shift+c and win+shift+v nothing copies.

I'm on a pc (hence win key)

at the moment can't figure how to copy plugin settings between different tracks

The track has to be showing any plug in parameter rather than volume or waveform.

If it still doesn't work - not sure. Automation enabled for all parameters of the plug-in on both tracks?

that was it, I didn't realise automation had to be on something other than waveform or volume... thanks
