Default Pro Tools Problem

This post was sent to me by one of my students. I work on a Mac so I'm not very well versed in what problems may happen with a PC. Unfortunately, he didn't include what OS he's using or what machine.

Any thoughts on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

Basically after installing the DV toolkit plugins via the link on the class website, my Pro Tools would no longer start. It would stall out on the loading screen with the loading bar making no progress, and after a few minutes it would eat up all my system resources and my PC would crash. I tried uninstalling the plugins using the install utility, to no avail. Same problem. After trying many other options, I thought simply uninstalling and reinstalling Pro Tools would be a lengthy but sure way to fix my issue... except that I wasn't able to properly uninstall via the windows utility. So after manually finding and deleting all the pro tools files and running a registry cleaner, I tried to reinstall except now I'm getting a "feature transfer error" which is elaborated with "cyclic redundancy error". Doing some research online most people say that means a problem with the disc being dirty or damaged, which doesnt make sense as it was the original disc I used to install Pro Tools, and I put it right back in it's case after the original install, it's not dirty!

Default Re: Pro Tools Problem

Nowhere near enough info to help. We need a Sandra report(see the "Help us Help you" in the Windows section for LE). and need to know the exact version of OS, Pro Tools and what interface.
