Mbox mini installation problem - "Hardware Not Found"
Hi all,
Sorry if the answer to this question is already available in the archives somewhere. I use a HP Compaq nc4200 laptop with Windows XP. I just bought an Mbox mini with Pro Tools 8 LE (8.0.4) and followed the installation instructions carefully. After the computer has rebooted and I attempt to open Pro Tools for the first time, it begins loading plug-ins but then stops and says "Unable to locate digidesign hardware" and prompts me to connect the device (but it is already connected). The light on the Mbox is on and it is receiving signal. I tried uninstalling Pro Tools and reinstalling, with the same result. I also have Cubase software installed with drivers for a Lynx Aurora converter, not sure if that is interfering in some way. Is there a compatibility problem? Update needed? Not sure where to turn, and any guidance would be really appreciated! Thank you |

Re install the mbox mini stand alone drivers (free download from the avid) I keep a copy handy in a folder on my desktop and on a flash drive because if you change the usb port the box is pluged into its likley to happen again

Re: Mbox mini installation problem - "Hardware Not Found"
Thanks for the tip. Do I need to uninstall Pro Tools and the drivers first, or will this add-on to the existing software ok?

Re: Mbox mini installation problem - "Hardware Not Found"
Hi again,
I uninstalled Pro Tools and downloaded the Digidesign driver for Windows (v803_6491) which I believe is the most recent one. It installed but that still leaves me without Pro Tools. Cubase does not like the Mbox either, says "bad device" when I try to switch ASIO driver. My preference would be just to use the Mbox mini with my Cubase software, but I just want to be able to use it with anything right now. Any other ideas of how to get around this glitch? I have such an ordinary setup, it's surprising that there would be an installation problem. thanks! |

Re: Mbox mini installation problem - "Hardware Not Found"
sorry i wasnt quick enough. re install PT8.04cs2 leave your mbox pluged into usb...
down load driver Avid Mbox Mini Driver 1.0.6 (do not install yet)... go to control panel > add remove programs > remove the mbox mini driver only now install the driver 1.0.6 This is what works for me regularly hope it works for you. :) |

Re: Mbox mini installation problem - "Hardware Not Found"
Thanks so much for your help.
I followed your instructions. However, when I attempt to install the 1.0.6 driver I get this message: "This version of Windows is not supported by the Mbox mini installer" I don't understand, I use Windows XP. Is there a support line I can call? Help! |

I'm sorry I don't have specific experience with this prob on xp. Switched to 7 after 8.03 if you google the unable to locate digi hardware error there will be lots of steps for xp users to take.
