Default Best Way To Remotely Control PT

Hey guys, I just picked up a Mac Air. I would like to be able to use it "somehow" to make working in the studio easier when I'm writing. I'm wondering if anyone uses an Air or iPad to run PT on their main computer. It would be nice to be able to sit at the piano and quickly open a session while writing. Is screen sharing the best way to go? I don't mind spending money if it makes the writing process easier. Any suggestions? Thanks

+1 for V Control. I use it quite a lot. There is another app for iPhone called Pro Control that has a simple transport for about $10. But the Neyrinck app for iPad has more functionality. It's not quite Raven but very useful.

I use ProControl LE on my iPhone 4s, and bought the improved transport control. I find it indispensable, especially when I'm doing my own vocals.

All I really need it for is to start recording, and jumping between markers. I don't find it helpful for mixing levels though... not on a phone sized screen.

Never tried V Control.

Personally, I'd try the screen-sharing route first; assuming a reasonably fast connection, put it in full-screen mode, and it's like having the machine in front of you. V-Control works great (I have it and use it), but really intended for basic transport and fader control; not really suitable for any significant editing.

best,
rich

While it's not usable in all circumstances, when I'm recording my own drum tracks, I just take my computer's wireless keyboard and put it on a music stand next to my drum kit...works like a charm...

Just rockin'...what more is there?

Yeah, that's the other half of my wireless recording set up. I just find the keyboard a bit lacking without the number pad. I use a lot of memory locations, and you just can't easily jump between them without a number pad. That's why I augment with ProRemote. I don't think V-Control of ProRemote can create new track playlists.
