Default Strange problem with motor mix

When I open a session, the 8 track that motor mix is highlighting flicker on my screen aand also blink in and out on the motor mix screen...but still works....it also gives me errors when I close the session out and says protools has lost communication yet it will work when another session is pulled up. This didn't happen on my last system and I'm using the same audio drive, the digi for midi, and the same operating system. Any thoughts?

Everything should be fine. I've had the thing for a long time in my last set up so i know the cables are good and it's always turned on before hand. Still mystified.

I use motormix as well, but have never seen that problem.

Midi cables good?
Motormix turned on before starting PTLE?
Make sure Motormix is setup properly in Midi Controllers set-up.

-You may be dealing with a corrupt session. Create a new session and use the File>Import Tracks command to transfer the tracks into the new, PT 5.1.1 session file.

-If this issue is common to all sessions, perhaps something is corrupt with a preference file. Trash the following and see how things behave:

-DAE prefs folder: Located in the C:/ Program files / Digidesign / DAE folder
-PT prefs file: Located in the C:/ Windows/ Application Data/ Digidesign folder.

Well, I tried what you said (with the folders)...I also created a new session from scratch and before I could import tracks, I was getting my favorite error message! It's strange because The faders jump into position when you open the file and then I get an error repeatedly afterwards saying that protools has lost communication. Your inout is so valuable as I am stumped. Any other ideas? I'll try 'em! P.S. I am working with a toshiba satellite 900mhz laptop with a magma expansion box, running windows me and using the 001 as my midi interface.(if that helps)
