Have you checked your AMS settings?

Did you do a clean PT uninstall of your old version?

Did you install your 002/003 or USB drivers after installing and rebooting PT9?

I think I may have gotten it solved. I trashed my audiomidi preferences and now I can past the startup screen! It only took me 6 hours to figure this out!

Clearly I'm not the only one with this issue. It would be helpful to be able to contact Avid, but after spending the money on the upgrade, I'm not in the mood to have to spend more money just to get it to boot.

It's in your user folder library. Go to the preferences folder in there and look for com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist and delete that.

Let me know if it works!

Try going to the library on your hard drive (instead of your account library) and see if you can find any audiomidi preferences in that preference folder. I also deleted some things in there. I don't think reinstalling and installing again will help. I do think poking around in the preferences and trashing anything to do with audio might.

Good luck!

A coworker of mine was running into this problem. He fixed it by starting PT's with his 003 connected. Then changed the playback engine (to core-audio or whatever it's called there). Then he could restart without the 003 connected.

Wow.. I cant believe i actually got it going.
I had to trash
com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist which was actually created by my first install last night. (must've been corrupt)
Thx for all your help Edwin!

Yep there's an issues that Avid will need to look at, my 9.0 has bombed twice today with this issue, solved by trashing;

/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist
