Default iZotope Vinyl plugin

I recently downloaded this free plugin:
http://www.digidesign.com/products/d...roduct_id=4094

anyone familiar with this?
it installed fine and the plugin works properly within
protools, except that it doesn't do anything--
i messed with all the settings and couldn't hear
the effect at all.

do i have to have tracks actually recorded for this to work?
right now i'm just arming the tracks for record, playing my
keyboard into the digi-002 and listening to the output from
the monitors without actually recording. the only thing i
could think of is that the plug-in might only work on
a recorded track. anyone know what the deal is?
the other plugins (compression, eq) are working fine...

thanks!
