Default Is i7 a game changer for laptops running PT9?

Old school says go Mac for laptops but old school charges a hell of a lot for tuition. Seeking a laptop for $1000 range to run PT9 as this is my 2nd computer. Any suggestions what processor, what brand, where to buy. I'm at a loss trying to figure this out on my own.
PS- Couldn't find any recent threads...thanks all.

Asus. look for one with 2 internal drive bays, e-sata and firewire. intel chipset and intel cpu. And a must is a Dedicated Graphics Controller. NOT Integrated

Windows 7 64bit

What he said^^^. Just don't expect the same kind of performance as an i7 desktop machine as the laptop i7 cpu's run a bit different. Not all 4 cores run at full speed on the laptop versions. Still I would expect better than C2D performance.
