Default Real Time Plug-In Failure - Please help!!

Everytime I try to use the real-time compressor on an audio track, it works, but not with the compressor window open. It stops dead if I try to play the track with the compressor window open and displays:

"The operating system held off interupts for too long. If this occurs frequently, try increasing the H/W Buffer size in the Playback Engine panel (-6086)".

So I can't tweak any of the parameters while listening. The same thing happens with the EQ, but only when I try to tweak, otherwise I can have the EQ window open and it will play.

I tried messing with all of the parameters in the play back engine panel, to no avail.

I have an Acer Aspire 5672WLMi Intel Core Duo Processor T2300 (1.66GHz), 120GB HDD, 2GB DDR2

I am using Pro Tools LE 7.3

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

From the Pro Tools LE 7.3 - FireWire Windows Laptop Systems
Quote:
ACER Dual Core Laptops are Incompatible with Digidesign FireWire & USB Peripherals

* Incompatible with Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack, Mbox 2 Pro, Mbox 2, Mbox 2 Mini, and Mbox
* ACER dual core laptops — all models
This is also covered on the Pro Tools LE 7.3 - USB Windows Laptop Systems, but since you didn't mention which hardware, I didn't know which link to post. I guess it doesn't really matter though, does it? Sorry.

I don't know if this will help but make sure you have disabled your wireless internet connection. This seems to fix a lot of buffer errors.
