Default MIDI sync with PT 7.4 click track

I realize this subject has been posted before, but I'm just hoping for the correct fix.

I'm convinced there is some kind of lag in the PT 7.4 click track when using a MIDI controller to implement virtual instruments plug-ins. I have used Garage Band (to record sketches) and played along with a click track using a MIDI keyboard. Everything was perfectly in sync.

However, PT 7.4 is a different monster. I play into PT using a MIDI keyboard while listening to the click, but the resulting recorded track is not quite in sync with the click track during playback.

Can anyone provide a general summary about getting the perfect rhythm and sync between the click track and playback? Is this fixed in more current versions of PT?

thanks

Arrow Re: MIDI sync with PT 7.4 click track

During recording: Digi recommends to setup appropriate HW buffer size (Playback Engine -> HW buffer size).
It is NOT "set and forget setting". For recording it should be minimal (i am using 64 samples on 48kHz) and for mixing it should be enough to process effects (i am using 1024 samples on 48kHz).
Again "HW buffer size" is NOT "set and forget" setting.
Also, sometimes, i am using "Event Operations -> Input quantization". In this case MIDI notes align quantization grid during record.

During playback: Quantize midi if MIDI notes not fit the "quantization grid".
On LE system there is no "Plugin Delay Compensation", so probably you need to set it up manually...
