Pops and clicks the whole way through recording
Hi guys.
Recently started using pt9, actually had my first real go with it yesterday. Recording an audio track resulted in pops and clicks the whole way through, it really is unlistenable. It's definitely not clipping at all btw. I also have been using ableton live until I could get pro tools set up and I've never had this problem. I'm quite new to the whole DAW thing so I don't really know what to check, although I tried in vain for hours yesterday to fix it, but was only really checking things like wires and mic placement. Any ideas? cheers guys |

Re: Pops and clicks the whole way through recording
Describe the entire setup. computer, preamp, interface, mic, etc. You might also want to read this thread: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=294456

Re: Pops and clicks the whole way through recording
I'm using a macbook pro with 2gb of ram, a focusrite saffire pro 24, pre-amps are the focusrite ones.
Switching between a rode m3 and an audio technica at2035 mic. Rp6 monitors... not sure if I'm missing anything. And cheers albee, had a look through that thread, but I assumed that my problem was specific to protools, as everything is running fine on ableton? |

Re: Pops and clicks the whole way through recording
Your problem is more specific to clock (hence clicks and pops). So you have to make sure your clocking scheme is setup correctly.
That points you towards your saffire pro 24 and your Playback Buffer dialog in pro tools. Make sure the Saffire is selected as the playback device (not aggregate). That's a good place to start. |

Re: Pops and clicks the whole way through recording
Hey man, cheers, just checked in the playback menu in pro tools and the pro 24 is selected, but just did a practise take to make sure, and yup, clicks etc. are still there.
Any other ideas? |

Re: Pops and clicks the whole way through recording
Try Setting you processors down 1. I have a mac pro with 4 processors, so I set 3 of them to PT. That's what solved my issue. I still get the pops and clicks under other circumstances like when my project is heavy laden with plugz and I need to record another vocal etc...I then set my processors to 2, and it seems to help then also.
Best... |

I'm almost too cautious to say this, but, I think that worked!
