Wink M Box 1 and Pro Tools LE ver 6.1 with win 7 fail!

Hi
I've just bought a second hand M Box1 and tried installing the software. I am aware (because it didn't install last night) that the software isn't compatible with Windows 7 which is a pain as I don't have a laptop with Windows XP.

I have two questions

1. Is there a workaround to get it working with Windows 7?
2. Will a later (version 8) copy of Pro Tools LE work with Mbox 1?

and a third

does any one have any bright ideas - i'm reluctant to spend money on a secondhand laptop until I'm happy that the software and the box are worth it for what I want - which is recording our band rehearsals, and some home recording to see how I'm playing. I've borrowed a couple of studio mikes for a week or so to test it all out.

thanks a lot from a newbie!

Nick

You're pretty much screwed. I bought a second hand Mobile Pre MK1 the other week only to find out it did have Windows 7 drivers but they were completely bug ridden.

These old interfaces just aren't supported any more unfortunately.

I just bought a Focusrite 2i2 though and I must say it is MILES ahead in terms of the drivers, features and looks. Quality item.

Pro Tools 8.01 will work and was the last version that supported the original mbox. I was using it around 2 years ago on a laptop computer and it worked well.
