Unhappy PT LE fails to launch

I have an MBox2 with Protools LE and the Factory plug-ins running on Windows XP; the programme recently failed to launch (I think it hung on 'creating DAE objects'). Anyway, I decided to re-install everything Protools-related, including my Factory plug-ins. The launch now freezes when it tries to install the first Factory plug-in. (The iLock key is in.) If, however, I uninstall the Factory plug-ins (using the Windows 'Add/Remove Programmes' utility), Protools launches o.k. (though obviously without the plug-ins).
Any advice would be gratefully accepted as I use Maxim a lot.

What OS and Platform are you on?

I know on Macs, if you installed the melodyne plugs first, or the reason adapted plugs first you may have issues with it crashing when it sees the component part of the plugs. I had to remove the components from the library>audio>plugins>components folder in order to get LE8 to start right the first time, and I think I had to clear out a cache file too, (maybe that was in logic) but after doing so, it was cool, started up, and I was able to reinstall the melodyne and rewire plugs and everythings cool now. Another thing could be the OS may not be current enough, you might not be meeting the hardware compatibility requirements, or two or more apps could be competing for core-audio's attention (if on a mac)

Hi there,
I'm on a PC running Windows XP SP3 and Protools has worked fine with the plugins until recently. As I work mainly in radio, I have no need for the Ignition Pack plugins, such as Melodyne and Reason so those are not installed. The same copy of Protools works fine when the MBox2 and iLock key are transferred to my other desktop and also my laptop. I did recently remove quite a few items from the computer's startup menu in order to speed things up (maybe I removed one thing too many!) Also, I added an external USB backup drive. I might try re-tracing my steps to see if any of these has caused the problem.
Thanks for your time.

Question Re: PT LE fails to launch

Yes I did - are there known issues with IE8? If so, I'll try reverting to IE7.
Thanks a lot.

I've had the same issues but reinstalling IE7 has still stuffed my system.

No, Digi recommends NOT installing IE8 AT ALL. Check this out.....

With other viable browsers that don't screw things up (like Firefox), it's best to avoid IE8 completely.
