Warning PT Upgrade to 10/11 Bundle...
Upgrading from 9 to the 10/11 Bundle...
As I have an ILOK Gen 1 and waiting for the Gen 2 to arrive, I found after doing the upgrade you MUST have a Gen 2 to Activate your 10/11 license(s). Trying to activate just the 10 license ain't gonna happen. So I sit and wait for a few days 'til the new ILOK arrives...which stinks. Patrick |

Works here on a v1 iLok, but I upgraded before the new Pace/iLok management system was implemented, so that may be why I'm not affected.
To be honest, I go years at a time without ever synching my iLok. It's only with the recent flurry of activity (PT10+11, McDSP v5 update etc) that I've had to synch at all - looks like I got in just under the wire. |

Same here. I'm coming from PT 8. And using my iLok 1 without issues.

If you recently bought ProTools 10 or 11 you cannot use a Gen 1 iLok. As the ProTools 10/11 License arrives as a "bundle" or "group", which cannot be separated. So you must have a Gen 2 iLok to use the newer License combos.
Also you may want to wait for another reason. Today I upgraded to 11 and my new ProTools 11/10 license was transferred to iLok. In order to use it you must "surrender" your prior ProTools license. After clocking for like 15 minutes and resyncing or whatever their crappy new License Manager software was doing, I ran into an issue. It "surrendered" my prior License, but never activated my new License. The 11 license says "I don't have a previous license to surrender",,, no crap because you already surrendered it. And the old license shows up as "License has been surrendered". So now I am stuck with 0 ZERO licenses to use. Rebooting didn't help. I opened another ticket with iLok. 3X in last 2 weeks, for various other reasons.

Update on my situation. In License Manager I went to VIEW-COLUMNS and turned on "Activation Location". For some reason it showed my old ProTools 10+9 combo as being linked to my old iLok Gen 1,,, even though Its been running on my Gen 2 for a few weeks,
So I had to plug in my Gen 1 iLok and then it stated "Surrendered from ALL Locations". Not sure why this is needed if I already transferred it off my Gen 1 awhile ago. Anyways keep this in mind in case you recently upgraded to a Gen 2 iLok and are upgrading to ProTools 11. Don't sell your Gen 1 right away until you have everything swapped.
