Do a full and complete uninstall with the uninstaller. Use the FULL 8.0.3 installer. It should be available for download on your Avid account page.
I'll do that-thanks,
There's an option for the safe uninstall or the complete one-the safe one is recommended-which would be the better option?

The complete uninstall. Everything gone, except your plugins folder.

Just did the complete uninstall and then re loaded the whole program. From the start-"lost communication with interface...." and then it just quit the program!

I think it's something to do with the Reason Rewire..some other sessions without Reason as a rewire will work fine.
Thanks for all your help by the way!

So this only happens with particular sessions? Does it ONLY happen with ReWire sessions?

You have tried updating Reason already, yes?

If this is the case, my advice is to create a blank session, and turn on Reason in the session. If it crashes... then we can officially say Reason/Rewire are involved. Otherwise, you might just have a corrupt session or two. In which case, Import Session Data should help you.

Haven't updated Reason,
but tried a blank session without reason as a rewire and it still comes up with "lost communication with interface" message, as soon as ProTools loads up! Could this be a faulty firewire lead? One thing i haven't checked so far..
I tried import session data to a fresh session but error came up about not being able to use the source disk and to check disk allocations, which i did, but couldn't see what the problem was.

Default Re: Lost Communication with Audio Interface!

I have since transfered all audio to a new session and it runs fine, though very slow. The "lost communication" error stopped showing. But as i was mixing, anytime i tried to add the ElevenFree plugin it crashed and kicked me out! I ended up using a Sansamp plug instead which ran fine, but as i said, slowed down the session considerably!
Maybe it was a combination of Reason/ElevenFree plugins and having a corrupt session?
Thanks for all the help-hope this will help someone else who may have similar problems.
