Default looking for small interface PT 10/11 for travel

My setup with an Mbox 3 Pro works nicely, now I'm looking for a small (2 inputs) audio interface that plays nicely with ProTools 10 and 11. All that on a MacBook Pro with osx 10.9.4.
Super bonus if it'd also work in standalone mode.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I bought a used Mbox 2 mini and that was a total nightmare - after 3 days of research and testing I gave up on it.

Maybe I should rephrase my question:

Is there anybody out there using a small and lightweight 2in/2out audio interface with Pro Tools 10 and 11 that 'works' well enough for travel purposes?

Anybody

Thank you for your thoughts, ZBloom! Alas, that interface is a bit too heave and large. I really need a 'travel' interface only for jotting down various ideas. But, I don't want to spend days on end to make it play nice with Pro Tools ;(

No problem, you could always go with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 very small and lightweight i've never had a problem with mine working with pro tools as long as the correct drivers are installed

Thank you again, that sounds encouraging! Are you using Pt 10 or 11 with it?

You didnīt write anything about the price?
So I just ask, ever tried an Apogee Duet 2?
Really compact and offering an exceptional audio quality, equal or even better than the MBox 3 Pro,
at least absolutely outstanding in itīs price range sound quality-wise.

I bought mine while I had my Quartet for service once, to use it with PT11 (didnīt use PT10 at that
time anymore, so I canīt tell about that, sorry) and it worked really flawlessly, without any issues.
I now use it for mobile applications, have never looked back.

If you say "standalone mode", do you mean to use it as a "mixer" unit only for live applications or do you
mean if you could use it with other applications than Pro Tools on your Mac too?
Anyway the Duet integrates perfectly with a Mac system and can be used as the standard audio engine
for all applications on the system (iTunes, etc.).
However there is no "preamp-mixer mode" only with the Duet 2, means, no this kind of standalone mode actually.

The original

The Avid version

You could try to get one for 1-2 days from a shop to try it out with your system.

Anyway, the best of success,

VRW
