Default "Access Violation" crash in 8.0.3 (not pr)

I've been working on a very simple project: two mono & one stereo audio tracks, a few playlists in each of the mono ones, minimal plugins (a few McDSP compressors & AC1 floating around). When I try to save, I get the following error:

"Could not complete your request because An access violation has occurred.."

(yep, that's the same capitalization & punctuation, btw. Digi, you might need a new proofreader

After this I can try to quit Pro Tools, which will ask if I want to save changes. Saying "yes" sends me back to the "access violation" error. Saying "no" leads to Pro Tools crashing.

My specs:
PT LE 8.0.3 (release version) ~ Mbox 2 Pro
Macbook core2duo 2.0gHz, 4gb ram
one firewire HD for audio data (OWC, Oxford 934 chipset, FW400) between Macbook & Mbox

Any thoughts?
thanks

Typically the fix for random assertion errors is to trash prefs and databases, per the instructions in the General Troubleshooting thread...

This happened to me once. Something went awry with one of the files in a playlist. I tried to switch to that playlist and I got that error and had to quit without saving. Then when I tried to open the session again, I got that error and it wouldn't let me open it. And then in all my other sessions, all fade files were off line. Trashing prefs and databases reset it all, but I still couldn't open the session that gave me there error, and when I tried and got the same error, all my fades in all sessions were offline again. I had to trash prefs and databases again, create a new session, and import all the audio (except the bad file)from the original session.
Trashing prefs is part of the solution but I still don't know why it occurred in the first place and I still lost a file.

I just updated to 8.0.3 on a new iMac i7 and am getting the same error and PT has been starting to crash soon after a few of these error messages.

I've trashed pref's and data bases. All procedures in General Troubleshooting have been done.

Much of these sessions were done in 7.4.2--??? a problem?

Default Re: "Access Violation" crash in 8.0.3 (not pr)

I may have just resolved this Access Violation issue by creating new sessions and importing Session Data from the older sessions that were crashing. Seems to be stable after doing this with two sessions so far. Will post again if fully stable.

Nope--I spoke too soon. It seems more stable, but eventually the session still ends up crashing. But I haven't noticed any access violation errors. It now just out-of-the-blue crashes...

ANY IDEAS??

I'm still having little luck myself. 8.0.3 is proving even less stable than 8.0.3pr... I think it's time to try a fresh Leopard install & see if that works better than Snow Leopard...

I'm having this looked into...hopefully we'll have something for you soon.

Can anyone experiencing this please use the Tech Support Utility from the General Troubleshooting thread to generate and post an installed plug-in version list? I have a feeling this may be plug-in related...
