Orchestral Companion not working correctly

Hey all..
I'm new to this community and fairly new to Pro Tools. I purchased the Orchestral Companion plugin from Avid and installed it. When I play it in practice mode, it works fine. As soon as I record enable and try to record on my MIDI track with the rest of the tracks, it just kind of plunks...like I'm plucking a violin string...no sustained notes.

When I switch to the Expand2 plugin, it works fine but I need better sounding instruments, which is why I'm using the Orchestral plugin.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

I have to engage Loop Record to make it work – whereas taking Loop off worked for others

Interestingly, I took it out of loop and it works fine. Really weird. Thanks so much.
