Default 002Rack Inputs out of phase

Here's my story... after getting a Dave Smith Tetra and Mopho to poly chain together I've been frustrated that after using inputs 1-4 on my digi 002 to "mix" them together (there outputs and balances aren't spot on all the time) the sound was vastly different. What I've been doing is having 2 stereo auxes bus to a sub mix of the two synths. I can use the gain knobs on the 002rack to "mix" them and in theory this would work great. However using these inputs I always noticed an odd sound coming from the Mopho, which comes into inputs 1-2. After switching the units around, using the 5-8 inputs as a test, I finally found that one of my 1-2 inputs is out of phase. Sure enough when I bring them in on there own separate mono tracks and invert the phase on one of them everything is right with the world.

Any way this can be fixed? I'm not going to use 2 mono tracks and I'd rather not use my 5-8 inputs as I have other pres coming in those.

If the hardware can't be fixed easily is there a way to switch the phase on one channel of a stereo aux track?

Without opening up the 002, you could put a trim plug-in on the track, unlink the left & right (inputs 1&2) and flip the phase of just one of the sides.

I know this isn't exactly the right place for this question... but just in case...

Does anyone know how to do this in Ableton Live?

Are you sure it's phase your hearing and not MIDI latency..?
Just food for thought.

yeah, there is no midi involved here. Just a mopho's audio going direct to channels 1-2. Also, switching the phase as described above solved it!

Could the audio cable be wired out of phase? As you know, pin 2 is hot, pin 1 ground, pin 3 low.

I tested multiple inputs (same cables) and the rest work fine.

You could make a phase reversing cable by swapping pins two and three.

or buy a phase reversing plug switchcraft comes to mind
or make a permanent fix by opening the unit and soldering the leads correctly
