Default Create A Group Only For Hiding/Showing?

One of the very few things I miss about Logic Pro is the ability to keep a clean, productive editing workspace, something difficult in Pro Tools. A group of tracks could be "Stacked" inside a bus track, to be easily shown or hidden, minimizing clutter. I thought I'd found a way to do something similar in Pro Tools by assigning a range of tracks to a Group, selecting no Attributes or Globals in the Modify Group setup, so the tracks could be fully, independently edited, using the Group only to hide or show the track range.

Apparently, I'm wrong about the "independently edited" part, finding that even with all attributes and globals unchecked in the Modify Groups setup, tracks in a group can't be even selected separately.

Is there a way to group tracks and have them maintain their independence, so I can hide & show the group?

Thanks.

Cayce

Holding the option key on Mac will override the group edit temporarily, or de-select the group name in the group list.

Use memory markers for this and not groups.

EdwardWilliam & BScout:

Thanks for two excellent bits of information. Both good workarounds!
