It is worth mentioning that a firm consultant recommended using the Genelecs 8030 for such a room because the A7x would never fit that room ??

Tough call as its sort of an odd room size/shape. If my math is reasonable, that means about 6.5' wide and 13' long? No speaker will be perfect(and the math of this room means there are some serious low frequency issues that no speaker will solve). Next to a square room(say 4 meters by 4 meters) your rectangle with one dimension being double the other dimension, this is likely the next worse scenario. The smaller woofer of the 8030 might be an advantage(less low frequency info to excite room nodes). Is there any room treatment? Bass traps? My honest opinion is that you will need to "learn" whatever speaker you buy as your room is making a large contribution to the overall sound(and listen to some good phones to get a clear idea of the lower octaves). Both are good speakers Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer

Outside of being a rectangular room, depending on the height (could you give us that as well) the Genelec 8030 might be a better fit because of room resonances. The Adam A7x's low end is right about at a resonance point for both of the walls. The 8030's low end doesn't go down that far (58 Hz vs 40 Hz on the Adam' and one of the wall resonance freqs is right at about 43Hz. Of course any bass treatment/trapping will have an effect on this.

Yep. That's why I did an Excel spreadsheet to do the calculations. I could pass it on if anyone needs it. I did it in the Excel version that comes in Mircosoft Office 2011. It's set to use feet as a unit of measure so for metric you'd have to do that calculation yourself.

Does changing the Unit of Measurement in the Options not change the units in the sheet?

Cheers,

Huh?
What are you talking about?
There's no 'Options' menu as such that I can find in MS Excel on the Mac.

In Excel 2010 - on PC - Go to Options>Advanced>Display>Ruler Units. Does that change the measurment units? It does change the Margin values to centimetres when I change the Ruler Units to centimetres. Or, globally on a PC at least, you can change units for the computer under Region/Language etc.

Cheers,
