Default Auto Save?

Is there a way to disable PT from saving every single take?

Put it in Destructive record mode and it will overwrite each take.

if you mean saving sessions, there is an autosave feature in the Setups - preferences menu. You can deselect it. If you mean regions, you want them. You can Clear unused regions.

I highly recommend you not use Destructive record mode! The only situation to use it is if you want to replace the complete recording - a situation which usually only occurs when doing transfers from another recorder. You have the potential to get yourself into major trouble with Destructive record mode.

As Cliffy says, learn to delete unused regions.

If you save the session after deleting the regions you shouldn't receive that message.. something else is causing it.

Why not? I use it when I'm arranging something that I know is going to take me a long time to perfect, and am only interested in hearing the result once. When I figure I have it cased, then I switch to Non Destructive. And I don't have to screw around with deleting a bunch of regions I was never going to keep in the first place.

Because there's no Undo in Destructive record mode. I only use it when doing transfers - any other use should require the user be 100% sure they know the limitations.

That would be a given.

Thanks for the response.
