Default A couple of bugs in Ultimate HD 2019.12

I've been using PT HD since 1998 so I know the program very well...

Today I was doing music on a commercial and when i tried to import some of my personal samples which I always use (cymbal hits, rolls with mallets, percussion hits etc.) PT would not let me import them, they were greyed out but other files in the same category were just fine. These are files that were created at the same time or even later and have ALWAYs worked and it is just random files. I tried to then import them through Workspace but that didn't work either. They are .wav files. I WAS able to import them if I went to a previous song or cue and imported them from the audio file folder in that cue.

The other thing I had several issues with was that PT stopped playing and I got the video error that I rarely if ever have gotten. The video was QT MP4. MPEG-4 AVC. I always get these and never had issues. It's just a :30 second spot.. If I hit play 3 or 4 times the video played fine and this was also random. Not always.

Are these known bugs or is this only me?

Thanks for any help.

Move up from Sierra (even to High Sierra) -- there have been issues noted with Sierra starting with all the 2019 versions of Pro Tools.

Check file permissions on those files you were trying to import. It sounds like they may not be accessible due to file permissions.

This. I started to have issues with Sierra and 2019.6 i think, then moved to Mojave and all is good.

I checked permissions and they are just fine, so it's not that. I don't think I get can High Sierra anymore and not sure if some other software we use works with Mojave? That might be okay IF I can still get Mojave?

Thanks.

Still confused why some of my files load in and some won't. It appears arbitrary. Files that I recorded in the same day a few years ago, one loads in and one doesn't and they are on the same drive.

Thanks for any other thoughts on this.

mp4 video is a big no no in PT. You should always convert the video to something less procesdor taxing: Avid DNxHD36 and Apple ProResProxy or LT are good options.

Greetings,

Thierry

One more thing that is VERY odd is that now some of the files that will NOW work in ProTools have had their names changed. I haven't renamed them. These are files that are 4 to 15 years old and on a separate drive.

They are listed as .L.L.wav and .L.R.wav These will now load into ProTools. But the original files (cymbal hits) won't load into PT even though they ALWAYS have loaded in to PT. They are in previous PT sessions created in the last 4 years. Other .wav files created at the same time as these renamed files will work in PT and so will others created at the same time. Others WON'T work in ProTools.

Not sure if this is a PT issue since these files are on a separate drive and not our system drive?

Any thoughts on this?
