Need help with multiple Midi devices (should be easy)
Im running late night silent sessions and want to use VST's with MIDI and jam in headphones with the guys.
My MIDI question is this: Im using Vdums, MIDI out to Digi 002 Midi in and using Superior Drummer 2.0 I would also like to use my Nord, to trigger Grand Piano, using the Nord MIDI out but I have no more available MIDI ins on the DIGI 002. Am I able to daisy chain my devices so I can play both VSTs at he same time? As in the following: Vdrum module MIDI out to Nord Midi Thru, Nord Midi OUT to Digi MIDI in. Set the MIDI out channels on the Vdrums and Nord to match the MIDI channels on the two instrument tracks to match the devices? Am I complelty off in my thinking? Long time PT user, new MIDI user |

Midi thru is an output, so plug the vdrum into the nord input. See if the nord has an option for letting midi pass from in to out. (as opposed to in to thru) You may have to end up getting a midi patchbay to handle multiple controllers.

Re: Need help with multiple Midi devices (should be easy)
A lot of folks including myself use a M-audio/usb midisport with good results.

You can daisy chain midi, but you need to set up the correct channels so that they don't all play the same stuff. However, chaining midi causes midi delay. The best thing you can do is to get a midi patchbay

I have two controllers, a Roland TD-6, and a Nord Keyboard. Both have Midi in/out and I would like to arm two instrument tracks.. one with 'Mini Grand' controlled by the Nord and one with 'Superiour Drummer' controlled by the td-6. its in the configuration where I begin to get lost. Do I set each controller to Midi Channel 1, and 2 respectively, and then in my instrument tracks, arm them as channel 1 and 2? |
