Default Need Some Help Identifying a Bit of Tech

Hey guys, I'm doing a presentation this Friday for a Mass Media class at the college where my wife is a Prof on the history of audio recording. I'm going to use part of this video clip in my presentation. What I can't identify is what is this kid using on his cell phone? And how is it tied into the Pro Tools system? I'm not familiar with using any of iPhone/iPad stuff as I don't ever use it.

Can some please just tell me what it is?

Thanks.

Looks like it’s a synth app on the iPhone.

There’s soooo many available. I’m not familiar with the one he’s using. Maybe someone else knows the particular app. You could try sending him a message and asking him. He’s pretty young, so you’ll probably get a response in like 30 seconds. Haha...

But yeah, looks like he’s just playing with filters on the sound on the synth app and just recording the output into PT via the headphone output.

Like Sardi said, there are hundreds of Morph Synths in App Store and could be anyone of them

I have tried most of the Morph Apps but it didn’t do anything for me or our music. We use PUSH2 and Beatbox Pro and a few cool devices we run on the Ravens for touch Morphing when needed.

How can you listen to that track for more than 20 secs is more impressive, thats the worst crap I ever heard and sadly Utube is filled with this ...

Funny how he calls himself a Music Producer from Ohio hahahaha Whatever dude !!!

Haha, sounds like Mortal Kombat 2, however Dan Forden's work is legit and legendary

Really?

Wow. I’d never used it on an iOS device. Looks totally different to the Mac version.

At least that part is. You get to it by creating a new song and choosing “Live Loops” instead of tracks. You then choose a genre and that loop generator sequencer pops up. When you hit FX at the top of that screen, the morph pads come up.

Well, I'm using it as an example of how easy it is for anyone to just record regardless of location (or talent for that matter).

Thanks, that's what I needed to know.
